In a recent podcast appearance on Zerodha co-founder Nikhil Kamath’s show WTF, Ranbir Kapoor shared intimate details about his marriage with Alia Bhatt and his experience as a new father.
Ranbir Kapoor discussed the sacrifices and adjustments both partners make in a marriage. He noted, “Especially when you’re in a marriage, you have to let go of your personality. She’s also letting go of her personality. We’re adjusting to each other to make it livable for each other. Any marriage is doing that. You have to let go, you have to adjust, you have to sacrifice facets of it. It’s impossible for two people to like each other the way they are.”
He acknowledged that Alia Bhatt has made more adjustments in their relationship than he has. Kapoor mentioned, “She (Alia Bhatt) changed more for me than I have changed for her. I am acknowledging it but I should do something about it, I should change a bit.” He provided an example of Bhatt’s efforts, noting her attempts to modify her tone of speech to accommodate his sensitivity, a change that he recognizes as significant given her lifelong habits.
Kapoor also addressed his past insecurities about Bhatt’s on-screen romantic scenes. Reflecting on his growth, he said, “I don’t feel insecure if I see Alia romancing another guy on screen. Maybe like ten years back, I would feel that. But I’ve grown up, I’ve understood life a bit.”
Sharing a poignant moment, Ranbir Kapoor recalled the overwhelming emotion he felt when holding his daughter, Raha, for the first time. He described it as, “When she was born and I was given… the first thing when the doctor gave me Raha, you can’t describe it. If I had to describe it, it’s like somebody has pulled your heart out and put it in your hands. It’s instant. It’s the love of your life. It’s too good. Never felt that and never will feel that about anything or anybody in my life.”
Kapoor’s heartfelt reflections provide a glimpse into the personal sacrifices and profound joys that define his life with Alia Bhatt and their journey as parents.
