Thiruvananthapuram: MV Govindan, the CPI(M) state secretary, stated that the government has begun implementing the recommendations of the Justice Hema Committee report. He mentioned in a press conference that appointing a consultancy to formulate a film policy and deciding to hold a film conclave is part of these efforts.
The LDF government’s policy is to protect Malayalam cinema. This is the first time such a committee has been appointed in India. Justice Hema had requested that the report not be released to the public. There has been no tampering with the report by the government. The government does not need to withhold anything from the report.
The only action taken was to protect the confidentiality of the testimonies. The matter of the omitted pages is under the consideration of the High Court. If any part is not accessible, it can be legally obtained. Let there be a legal decision regarding that.
