Thiruvananthapuram: A 14-year-old girl from Assam, who had left her home in Kazhakkoottam after a dispute with her mother, has been brought to Thiruvananthapuram. The girl was received by a team led by the Chairperson of the State Child Welfare Committee (SCWC), Shaniba Begum. She was brought to Thiruvananthapuram on a Kerala Express train. The girl will be placed at the Thiruvananthapuram Child Welfare Committee’s shelter today, and a special sitting will be held tomorrow. According to Shaniba Begum, the girl has expressed a desire to return to Assam.
The girl left her home on Tuesday after an argument with her mother, who had beaten her over a dispute with her younger siblings. She arrived at Kanyakumari by train and was traveling on another train when members of the All India Malayali Association from Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, found her. Various teams conducted checks on the train and managed to locate the girl.
