“I Have Not Blamed Any Religious Community or District”: Chief Minister Pinarayi Clarifies

Date:

Kozhikode: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has provided clarification regarding a controversial interview. He stated that the points he did not mention are covered in the ‘The Hindu’ newspaper and that the newspaper has provided an explanation regarding any inaccuracies. The Chief Minister emphasized that he has not blamed any religious community or district. “There has been no approach to specifically blame any religious community or district. I have been interacting with the media and speaking at public forums for a long time. There is a way to do that. It is well known to everyone that I do not make remarks against any specific region, district, or community living in our society.

All of this is a generally accepted fact and reality. However, I strongly oppose communal forces and communalism. I openly challenge these communal forces. But that communal force is not against any specific religious community. This has been clearly stated.

I oppose the RSS, which adopts the most significant communal stance in India. That does not mean I oppose Hindus as a whole. I oppose majoritarian communalism. I also oppose minority communalism in our country. This never means opposing any specific minority religious community. Whether majority or minority, the vast majority of people among them think in a secular manner. They are not subjugated by communalism.

The stance has always been to isolate the small groups that are subjugated by communalism. The international airport in Kozhikode is located in Malappuram district. Cases related to gold smuggling via that airport have been recorded as being from Malappuram district. This is not against that district,” the Chief Minister said. He was speaking at the inauguration ceremony held at Malabar Christian College in Kozhikode.
