Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala assembly session will begin today as the opposition prepares to use various issues against the ruling party, including the meeting between the ADGP and RSS, allegations by P.V. Anvar, the Thrissur Pooram controversy, and the PR issue. The 12th session of the 15th Kerala Legislative Assembly will convene for only nine days until the 18th. With numerous issues to raise against the ruling party, the assembly is likely to be tumultuous. The session will adjourn today after paying tribute to those who lost their lives in the landslides in Wayanad and Kozhikode districts. The assembly will meet for six days to pass bills and for two days to discuss issues raised by unofficial members. The ruling party will raise criticism against the central government for not providing the requested funds to assist the disaster-affected people of Wayanad. The opposition is also expected to express its stance on the matter. Meanwhile, the opposition may raise issues related to discrepancies in the accounts.
The bills being considered include the Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University Amendment Bill, the Kerala Cattle Breeding Bill, the Kerala Public Service Commission Amendment Bill, the Kerala General Sales Tax Amendment Bill, the Welfare Amendment Bill for Non-Resident Keralites, and the Payment of Salaries and Allowances Amendment Bill. A bill to replace the Kerala Taxation Laws (Amendment) Ordinance will also be passed during this session.
