Chandigarh: In a strong contest, Vinish Phogat has emerged victorious in Jullana, Haryana. When the final whistle blew, Phogat secured her win with a majority of 6,140 votes. Despite strong competition from the BJP’s young leader, Captain Yogesh, the victory belonged to Phogat. Initially leading in the vote counting, Phogat faced a dip at one point but managed to bounce back.
Phogat had previously faced disqualification in wrestling at the Olympics due to excess weight, which created significant controversy. After returning from the Paris Olympics, she joined the Congress party and was later declared as the party’s candidate for Jullana.
Meanwhile, former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda is also leading with a significant majority. Hooda’s stronghold is the Garhi Sampla-Kiloi constituency in Rohtak district, one of the key seats in Haryana. He has achieved remarkable victories in the elections of 2009, 2015, and 2019.
