Chennai: Due to a technical malfunction, a plane struggled to land and was safely redirected to Tiruchirappalli Airport after circling in the air for two and a half hours. The Air India flight from Trichy to Sharjah was diverted at 8:10 PM after experiencing issues. To reduce the fuel load, the aircraft flew in circles for two and a half hours. The flight was scheduled to depart for Sharjah at 5:40 PM but faced a technical problem that delayed its landing.
There were 141 passengers on board. In anticipation of an emergency landing, precautions were put in place at Trichy Airport, with all necessary measures prepared. The airport had 20 ambulances and 18 fire engines on standby. The malfunction was related to the aircraft’s hydraulic system.
