Dissatisfaction Within Congress Over Candidate Selection in Palakkad By-Election

Date:

Palakkad: Dr. P. Sarin, the KPCC Social Media Coordinator, openly expressed dissatisfaction regarding the Congress candidate selection for the Palakkad by-election. He stated that the party is yielding to the demands of a few individuals and warned that if this continues, it could lead to a repeat of the situation in Haryana. Sarin clarified his stance during a press conference following the nomination of Rahul Mamkoottathil as the candidate.

“I had requested the AICC leadership to reconsider the candidate selection. I also sent letters to Mallikarjuna Kharge and Rahul Gandhi. There is still time for the leadership to correct this. Otherwise, it won’t just be Rahul Mamkoottathil losing; it will be Rahul Gandhi as well,” Sarin said. “Do not blindfold yourselves to the realities. There needs to be intra-party democracy and discussions within the party. The Congress leadership seems to be out of touch. The approach to party decisions has changed. Decisions should be made collectively and accepted by everyone,” he elaborated.

Sarin also remarked that even if the CPI(M) fields a “puppet,” their workers will ensure victory, highlighting their confidence.
