UDF Candidate Priyanka Gandhi to Visit Wayanad for Lok Sabha By-Election Campaign

Kalpetta: Priyanka Gandhi, the UDF candidate for the upcoming Lok Sabha by-election, will arrive in Wayanad today. She will be accompanied by Rahul Gandhi. The two will travel by road from Mysuru to Sultan Bathery. Priyanka will file her nomination papers tomorrow. Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and Congress Parliamentary Party Chairperson Sonia Gandhi are also expected to visit Wayanad tomorrow, along with Congress Chief Ministers and national and state leaders from various states.

Following a roadshow, Priyanka will submit her nomination papers. The roadshow will begin at 11 AM from the new bus stand area in Kalpetta, and all leaders will be in attendance. Priyanka will submit her nomination papers to the district collector, the returning officer, by 12 noon. Priyanka will stay in Wayanad for 10 days for election campaigning.

The Congress Party is working to ensure Priyanka’s victory by a large majority in the by-election. AICC officials will closely monitor the election campaign in Wayanad. KPCC office-bearers and DCC presidents from the surrounding districts have been assigned responsibilities at the Panchayat level. The party’s five MLAs have also been given responsibility for Wayanad.

Meanwhile, KPCC has advised election leaders in Chelakkara and Palakkad not to unnecessarily travel to Wayanad. In Chelakkara, former minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan and Kodikkunnil Suresh have been appointed as election observers. Benny Bahnan and K.C. Joseph will serve as observers in Palakkad.
