Kalpatta: Kalpatta witnessed a historic moment as Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi arrived in an open jeep, creating excitement among the crowd. As Priyanka Gandhi, who is affectionately regarded as “Wayanad’s sweetheart,” prepared for her nomination filing as the UDF candidate in the Wayanad Lok Sabha by-election, a roadshow drew thousands of supporters in Kalpatta.

People began gathering for the 11 AM event as early as 7 AM. Despite a rainy morning, the atmosphere shifted to one of celebration. Buses and cars filled with people eager to see Priyanka crowded the roads.

Dressed in T-shirts emblazoned with the palm symbol, thousands welcomed Priyanka with placards and colorful tricolor balloons. Youth from tribal communities, along with a “Ithihasa” band, were also in attendance, creating a festive atmosphere.

The crowd gradually flowed like a rally, though the vehicle carrying Priyanka and Rahul was moving slowly due to the overwhelming number of people. Accompanied by UDF leaders such as K.C. Venugopal, K. Sudhakaran, Pankad Sadiqali Shihab Thangal, and P.K. Kunhalikutty, Priyanka and Rahul waved to the crowd from their open vehicle.
