Kalpatta: In Wayanad, UDF candidate Priyanka Gandhi stated that the courage of the people of Wayanad has deeply touched her heart. She expressed her fortune in becoming part of the Wayanad family during a public meeting in Kalpetta ahead of her nomination submission.
“I have campaigned for my father, Rajiv Gandhi, and for Sonia and Rahul Gandhi for 35 years. This is the first time I am campaigning for myself. I thank Kharge and the Congress for this opportunity. If I get the chance to represent you, I will see it as an honor,” Priyanka said. She pointed out that those in power are fostering divisions and hatred among the people.
AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge and Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi addressed a massive gathering of enthusiastic supporters in Kalpetta today. Also in attendance were CPP Chairperson Sonia Gandhi & other prominent party leaders. Kharge and Rahul Gandhi assured the people of Wayanad that a fearless & compassionate leader like Priyanka will give her best in the service of the people. They also expressed their heartfelt gratitude to the brothers & sisters in Wayanad for their trust, love & support they have always shown to the Congress party.
Wayanad Will Have Two Representatives in Parliament: Rahul Gandhi
Rahul Gandhi emphasized that Wayanad will have two representatives in Parliament. “Along with my sister, I will raise my voice for Wayanad. I will be the unofficial MP for Wayanad, and it will be the only constituency with two MPs,” he stated.
Rahul spoke following Priyanka Gandhi’s road show, which marked the beginning of her election campaign. The by-election was necessitated after Rahul vacated the MP position from Wayanad to retain his seat in Raebareli.
“I am entrusting my sister to Wayanad. Priyanka considers each individual in Wayanad as part of her family, and I am confident she will be there for every issue faced by the people,” Rahul added. The road show in Kalpetta, which stirred excitement in the city, was attended by other national and state leaders, including AICC President Mallikarjun Kharge.
