Kannur: P.P. Divya, the former District Panchayat President, has been remanded in connection with the case alleging abetment to suicide following the death of ADM Naveen Babu. Divya was taken into custody by the police after questioning at the Crime Branch headquarters on Tuesday afternoon. Following a medical examination, she was presented before the Thaliparamba Judicial Magistrate Court. The presentation was made after the Kannur Magistrate handed over the responsibilities.
Divya was transported to the women’s jail in Pallikkunnu after the court remanded her for fourteen days. Earlier, she was taken for a medical examination through the back entrance of the hospital, under heavy police security at the Kannur District Hospital. She emerged later through the front entrance and was then taken by police vehicle to the magistrate’s residence in Thaliparamba.
Divya was taken into custody at Kannapuram, fourteen days after the death of ADM Naveen Babu. Meanwhile, reports suggest that Divya surrendered to police in a suitable location. Commissioner Ajith Kumar confirmed that Divya had been taken into custody and mentioned that decisions on further matters would be made after questioning. He stated that Divya had been under constant surveillance, which facilitated her easy apprehension. “We will discuss in detail once the operation is fully completed,” the commissioner added.
ADM Naveen Babu’s Family to Oppose P.P. Divya’s Bail Petition
Meanwhile, The family of ADM Naveen Babu plans to oppose the bail petition of P.P. Divya, who is currently remanded in connection with his death. Naveen Babu’s wife, Manjusha, will be a party to the case. Divya is set to file a bail application at the Thalassery Sessions Court on Wednesday. Manjusha expressed satisfaction with the police investigation and stated that the accused should receive a substantial sentence.
