Thiruvananthapuram: A controversy has erupted in the state regarding a WhatsApp group created for Hindu IAS officers, named “Mallus Hindu Officers,” which was administered by K. Gopalakrishnan. The group was deleted within an hour of its creation. Following the incident, Gopalakrishnan has come forward with an explanation, stating that his phone was hacked and he has filed a complaint about it.
The WhatsApp group was created suddenly, alarming IAS officers, including senior officials. Some of the officials who were added to the group expressed concerns about its formation to Gopalakrishnan.
Upon learning of the incident, the group was quickly deleted. After this, the members received a message from Gopalakrishnan stating that someone had hacked his phone and created 11 groups by adding contacts from his phone. He also informed his colleagues that he would delete all the groups and change his phone. A complaint about the hacking has been lodged with the city police commissioner.
Meanwhile, the name of the group has raised several questions, as it appears that only officials belonging to the Hindu community were included in the “Mallus Hindu” group, leading to suspicions. If this was indeed hacking, it poses a serious issue. Investigations are needed to identify who hacked the senior official’s phone and created groups that could incite communal discord. The cyber police investigation is expected to reveal the truth.
