Palakkad: Sandeep Varier has reiterated that there is no change in his stance. He remains firm on his decision not to campaign for the BJP in the Palakkad by-election. “What I said earlier, I stand by it. It is a firm decision not to campaign for the BJP in the by-election,” he told Asianet News. He also clarified that the meeting with BJP leaders should not be misinterpreted or discussed unnecessarily.
He mentioned that if his complaints had been heard earlier, this issue would not have arisen. “I spoke against efforts to eliminate me within the party,” he added. Varrier confirmed that he is still with the BJP and has no intentions of joining the CPI(M).
Sandeep Varier also expressed that he had gone to Palakkad with the assurance from BJP leader K. Surendran that he would not be insulted. However, he claimed that this assurance was broken, and he was humiliated again when he attended a convention. “It was only after facing this humiliation once again that I decided to speak openly,” he explained.
Varier made headlines yesterday when he openly criticized the BJP leadership. He confirmed that he would not be going to Palakkad for campaigning. “My self-respect doesn’t allow me to return to the place where I was insulted. I am under tremendous mental pressure, and a person’s self-respect is of paramount importance,” he stated in a Facebook post.
Varier also attacked Palakkad BJP candidate C. Krishnakumar in a Facebook post. He alleged that Krishnakumar did not visit his home even when his mother passed away. “Krishnakumar claims we worked together since the time of the Youth Wing, but when my mother passed away, he didn’t even make a phone call,” Varier said.
