New Delhi: The International Criminal Court (ICC) has issued arrest warrants against Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. The court, based in The Hague, released the order on Thursday. In addition to Netanyahu, former Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant, who was recently removed from his position, also faces an arrest warrant from the ICC.
The court has also issued an arrest warrant against Hamas leader Muhammad Deif, also known as Muhammad Diab Ibrahim al-Masri. Deif, the military commander of Hamas, played a key role in the October 7th Israeli attacks.
These arrest warrants were issued in the context of ongoing conflicts in the West Bank. The ICC, which is responsible for prosecuting individuals for genocide, war crimes, and other offenses, is based in The Hague, Netherlands. It differs from the International Court of Justice (ICJ), which hears disputes between nations as part of the United Nations system.
