New Delhi: There’s been quite a shake-up at the National Testing Agency (NTA). Subodh Kumar Singh has been removed from his position as chief amidst allegations of irregularities in the NEET-UG and UGC-NET exams. He’s been placed on compulsory wait while Pradeep Singh Karola, a retired 1985 batch officer, steps in as his temporary replacement.
This move comes after controversy and accusations involving the NTA, particularly concerning alleged irregularities and paper leaks in these significant national exams. It’s a challenging situation, and the appointment of Mr. Karola appears to be a measure to stabilize leadership until a new chief is appointed or further decisions are made.
It seems Subodh Kumar Singh, who is 50 years old, has found himself at the heart of these controversies. Former colleagues describe him as someone who typically shuns the limelight and prefers maintaining a low profile, steering clear of media attention.
Before assuming his current role last June, Subodh Kumar Singh, an IAS officer, served as the additional secretary in the Department of Food and Public Distribution under the Union Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution.
