New Delhi: The vote counting for the assembly elections held in Delhi, Maharashtra, and Jharkhand has concluded. In Maharashtra, the BJP-led Maha Yuti alliance emerged victorious, while in Jharkhand, the JMM-led alliance claimed victory.
In the 288-seat Maharashtra Assembly, the Maha Yuti alliance won 235 seats, while the Maha Vikas Aghadi secured 49 seats. Within the Maha Yuti alliance, BJP won 133 seats, the Shiv Sena (Shinde faction) 57, NCP (Ajit Pawar faction) 41, Jan Surajya Shakti 2, and the Rashtriya Swabhiman Party 1 seat. In contrast, the Maha Vikas Aghadi was limited to just 49 seats, with Shiv Sena (Uddhav Thackeray faction) securing 20, Congress 15, NCP (Sharad Pawar faction) 10, SP 2, CPI(M) 1, and the Workers and Peasants Party 1 seat.
In Maharashtra, the victory of the Maha Yuti alliance led to the defeat of Congress’s former Chief Minister, Prithviraj Chavan. In Karad South, BJP’s Atul Babab Suresh Bhosale defeated Chavan by securing 39,355 votes. Babasaheb Thorat, the leader of the legislative party and a key figure in seat negotiations, was also defeated in the Sangmaner constituency. Shiv Sena’s candidate, Amol Khatal, defeated Thorat by securing 10,560 votes. Former minister and prominent woman leader Yashomati Thakur also lost in Thiyosayil. BJP’s Rajesh Sriramji Wankade won the seat by defeating Yashomati with 7,617 votes. In Maharashtra, CPI(M)’s sitting MLA, Vinod Nikole, retained his seat in the Dahanu constituency.
In Jharkhand, with 81 seats, the JMM-led alliance secured 56 seats. Hemant Soren’s JMM won 34 seats, Congress won 16, RJD 4, and CPI(M) 2 seats. The NDA secured 24 seats in Jharkhand, with BJP winning 21, AJSU 1, JD(U) 1, and LJP Paswan 1. The Jharkhand Loktantrik Krantikari Morcha secured 1 seat.
