Chennai: Actress Rohini has filed a complaint against Dr. Kantharaj with the Chennai Cyber Crime Police for making derogatory remarks about women in the Tamil film industry. The complaint includes five charges, including criminal offenses.
Dr. Kantharaj is known for creating videos on YouTube related to politics and cinema. Recently, during an interview on a YouTube channel, he spoke in a manner that demeaned female actors, suggesting that women often compromise themselves to obtain roles in films. He also mentioned that male actors and directors, along with other technical workers in the industry, engage in similar compromises. Kantharaj stated that actresses are aware of how opportunities arise in the film industry, and he claimed that this is why complaints arise afterward.
Following this, Rohini was appointed as the chairperson of an artist organization called “Nadikar Sangam,” which investigates sexual harassment complaints faced by women in the Tamil film industry. It was after this appointment that she decided to file a complaint against Dr. Kantharaj. The complaint she submitted to the Chennai Police Commissioner was forwarded to the Cyber Crime Unit.
