Mumbai: Famous Bollywood actor and Shiv Sena leader Govinda has been shot. Preliminary reports indicate that the incident occurred accidentally while he was examining a revolver he had at home. The bullet hit his leg. He was quickly taken to a nearby private hospital and is currently receiving treatment at Criticare Hospital. The police have confiscated the firearm in question and are investigating the incident. Reports suggest the accident happened at around 4:45 AM while he was preparing to travel to Kolkata.

Govinda’s wife, Sunita Ahuja, informed the Indian Express that his condition is satisfactory and he is continuing treatment. She was not in Mumbai at the time of the incident, but she said she arrived in the city immediately after learning about it and headed straight to the hospital.

His close friend Shashi Sinha also told the Indian Express that there is no cause for concern regarding Govinda’s health. “The accident happened while he was getting ready to go to Kolkata. Govinda had safely stored his gun in a cupboard. Somehow, it fell, and when he picked it up to check it, the gun went off accidentally. The bullet struck below his left knee. The bullet has been removed. His daughter Tina is at the hospital. Govinda is talking well with everyone,” his friend said.

Tina Ahuja responded to the Indian Express that her father is currently in the ICU and his condition is satisfactory. “The bullet has been safely removed from his leg through surgery. All test results have come in. There are no complications,” she said.
