Kochi: A dispute has emerged within the Producers’ Association regarding the Hema Committee report. Women producers have voiced their concerns against the association’s leadership. A meeting convened to discuss the issues faced by women producers has been criticized as a farce, with members expressing dissatisfaction.
The association’s approach is seen as mocking women producers. Allegations have been raised that external forces are controlling the Producers’ Association, and there are calls for the immediate election of a new committee. Women producers Sandra Thomas and Sheila Kuryan sent a letter criticizing the current leadership.
However, the Producers’ Association has yet to respond to the letter from the women producers. Earlier, the association had rejected the Hema Committee’s recommendation to ensure equal pay for men and women in the film industry, stating that it was impractical and unfeasible. The association had also sent a detailed letter to the Chief Minister addressing these issues.
