Minister Saji Cherian Dismisses Court Criticism as Media Misinterpretation

Date:

Thiruvananthapuram: Minister Saji Cherian stated that the Kerala High Court’s criticism of the government in the Hema Committee report is a media interpretation. He emphasized that the court’s position is appropriate and that the state government welcomes it.

“There is no need for the government to hide the Hema Committee report, which is why it was submitted to the High Court earlier,” he said. “The report will be fully handed over to the SIT as soon as possible. The government is committed to ensuring the safety of women. If complaints arise on shooting sets, there will be procedures to address them.” He also reiterated that the Hema Committee itself had requested that the report not be made public.

The Minister criticized the court’s criticism as a media misinterpretation and stated that the public would not accept it. He added that the court merely suggested further scrutiny. “A special investigation team is handling this matter. The report should not be released because it affects individuals’ privacy. The opposition leader can say anything, but there is no politics involved for the government,” the Minister clarified.

He mentioned that the court’s intervention is necessary for further action on the Hema Committee report. “We will study the High Court’s decision in detail and take further steps. The film policy draft is complete. We will set up a system to address complaints on shooting sites. The government is working for women’s safety, and no compromise will be made. Those who wish to file complaints should do so,” the Minister concluded.
