Kochi: Actor Nivin Pauly has been accused of sexual assault. A young woman from Neriyamangalam has approached the police with a complaint against the actor. The Ernakulam Unnukal Police have registered a case under non-bailable sections. Nivin Pauly is one of six people named in the case, and he is the sixth accused. The Unnukal police have confirmed that a case has been registered.
The complainant approached the government’s special investigation team to look into the revelations and allegations that emerged following the Hema Committee report. Based on this, the Unnukal police registered the case.
The complaint alleges that the actor and other accused committed the assault abroad. According to the complaint, the assault occurred in Dubai last November. The woman claims she was assaulted after being promised opportunities in the film industry. She alleged that she was assaulted in a hotel room and an apartment.
The complainant had traveled to Dubai for job-related reasons. The complaint alleges that a woman named Shreya introduced her to film industry professionals, and subsequently, the promise of opportunities was made followed by the assault. Shreya is named as the first accused in the case.
In response to the allegations, Nivin Pauly has denied the claims. He stated at a press conference in Kochi that the accusations were baseless and malicious. Nivin Pauly initially denied the allegations through social media and later held a press conference to address the issue.
“I learned about this news through the media. I don’t know the woman, nor have I seen her. I am completely confident that I have not done anything wrong, which is why I am addressing the media today. I will explore all avenues to prove the truth. Everyone wants to live, and such false accusations can arise against anyone at any time,” Nivin Pauly said.
He stated that he is willing to cooperate with any scientific investigation. He noted that he had been contacted by the Unnukal police station about a month and a half ago and had informed them that he had no knowledge of the matter, which led to the case being closed. He also mentioned that he received legal advice that the matter was not significant and should be left aside. Nivin Pauly expressed his belief that there might be a conspiracy behind the accusations, explaining that the police had initially sought information over the phone, but the case was closed once the truth was clear.
