Prithviraj Acknowledges Power Groups in Malayalam Cinema, Calls for Accountability and Transparency

Date:

Kochi: Actor Prithviraj Sukumaran stated that it is impossible to deny the existence of a power group in Malayalam cinema. He expressed uncertainty about how the Hema Committee report will affect the superstars and said it should necessarily impact them. Prithviraj was speaking at a press conference in Kochi. He emphasized that if allegations arise, there should be a thorough investigation, and exemplary punitive measures should follow if guilt is proven. Conversely, if the allegations are false, there should also be exemplary punitive measures for the accusers. He believes that only the names of the victims should be protected, and there is no law protecting the names of the accused.

Prithviraj stated that it is up to those in power to reveal the names mentioned in the Hema Committee report. He clarified that it is not his responsibility or that of others, including himself, to ensure the safety of the working environment if such assurances are made. He mentioned that there has been a significant lapse on the part of the actors’ association ‘AMMA’ in the current situation.

Regarding the presence of a power group in Malayalam cinema, Prithviraj said it is impossible to deny its existence. He noted that even if he has not faced any interference from those in power, it cannot be said that such a group does not exist. He stressed that if individuals affected by such a group are present in Malayalam cinema today, their issues should be addressed. He asserted that if such a group exists, it should be dismantled, and his own experience should not lead to a denial of its existence.
