Kozhikode: A young man has come forward with a sexual harassment complaint against director Ranjith. The complaint alleges that the director sexually assaulted him in Bangalore in 2012 when he approached Ranjith seeking an opportunity in films. The complainant, a native of Kozhikode, has given his statement to the special police team formed to investigate complaints within the film industry. The young man stated that he met the director during a film shoot in Kozhikode. He claims that Ranjith gave him a phone number written on a tissue paper and asked him to send a message. He was then asked to come to the Taj Hotel in Bangalore two days later. According to the young man, Ranjith instructed him to enter the room through the back gate at around 10 p.m. Upon arrival, the director allegedly forced him to drink alcohol and later sexually assaulted him after forcing him to undress.
Meanwhile, director V.K. Prakash has approached the High Court seeking anticipatory bail in connection with a complaint of harassment filed by a young female scriptwriter. In his petition, Prakash alleges that the complainant has a criminal background. He informed the High Court that the complainant is an accused in a honey trap case and that he has already filed a complaint regarding this matter with the DGP and the special investigation team.
