Vijay Sets New Record for Highest Actor Fee in India

Date:

Until now, the record for the highest actor fee in India was held by Shah Rukh Khan, who commanded ₹250 crore. However, actor Vijay has now surpassed him with a new record for his upcoming film “Dalapathi 69.” Following the announcement of his political party, Vijay declared that he would be stepping back from cinema. He plans to finish his contracted films and then fully dedicate himself to political activities.

The last film released featuring Vijay was directed by Venkat Prabhu and titled “The Greatest of All Time” (The GOT). Recent reports suggest that Vijay may act in one more film, directed by H. Vinod, although this has not been officially confirmed. For this film, Vijay is reportedly set to earn ₹275 crore. If the news is accurate, he will break Shah Rukh Khan’s current record with his final film.

“Dalapathi 69” is scheduled for release in theaters in October 2025. After completing this film, Vijay intends to transition entirely into politics. This year, he launched a political party called Tamil Nadu Vetri Kazhagam. The actor has decided to contest in the 2026 Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly elections alongside the TVK party and has already begun preparations for that.

Recently, he unveiled the party’s flag and presented the party song. The first party conference is planned to be held in Villupuram soon.

“To me, politics is not just another job; it is a sacred duty. I have realized that I must learn from my predecessors about both the heights and the depths of politics. I am mentally preparing for this. Politics is not a hobby; it is my deep desire. I will complete the films I have signed without impacting my political work, and after that, I will fully immerse myself in politics,” Vijay stated at the announcement of his political party.

In the first phase, the party aims to enroll one crore members. He clarified that he will not be contesting in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, focusing instead on the 2026 Assembly elections.
