Alappuzha: As the controversy surrounding the autobiography of E.P. Jayarajan turned into a political discussion, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan came forward in support of the leader. He stated that the issue of the autobiography was being used to assist both the UDF and the BJP. The Chief Minister questioned how a book could be published without the author’s involvement, asking, “If someone writes a book, doesn’t the author need to be involved in its publication? How can it be published without the person who wrote it?”
The Chief Minister clarified that E.P. Jayarajan had made it clear that no one had been assigned to publish the autobiography. “There is no contract with a publishing house for the book. Can a book be published without the author? Can someone simply send it as a WhatsApp message? What was intended was not the usual publication process,” he added.
When asked about a person named Sarin, who had been mentioned in the controversy, the Chief Minister recounted that E.P. Jayarajan had said that he did not know Sarin. “Sarin is a new person and is talented, but he was previously associated with a different group. E.P. Jayarajan said he did not know Sarin and had no reason to write about someone he didn’t know,” the Chief Minister explained. Jayarajan also clarified that there was no mention of Sarin in the autobiography.
The Chief Minister also responded to the opposition’s allegations regarding Jayarajan meeting BJP leader Javedekar, stating, “Jayarajan last saw Javedekar one and a half years ago”.Interestingly, the news surfaced on the very day of the parliamentary elections, when E.P. Jayarajan met Javedekar. One and a half years ago, E.P. Jayarajan met BJP leader Javedekar, on the day of the parliamentary election. Now, there is a by-election happening. This news has been carefully timed to coincide with that day. Isn’t this exactly what controversy specialists do? There are always certain motives behind such things. These motives are aimed at helping the UDF and BJP, who are losing touch with the people,” the Chief Minister added.
The Chief Minister made these comments during a speech at the inauguration of the CPI(M) area committee office in Alappuzha’s Kanjikkuzhi.
