CM Pinarayi Urges Fearless Opportunities for Women in Cinema, Honors Mohanlal

Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan stated that women should be able to work in the film industry without fear and that no conditions should be imposed on artists. He emphasized that every aspect of cinema influences the public. The Chief Minister was speaking while presenting the Sreekumaran Thampi Foundation Award to actor Mohanlal. He remarked that cinema is the most significant mass medium of our time and no other art form has the same influence on the people. Those working in the industry are responsible for ensuring that harmful elements do not appear in cinema.

The Chief Minister highlighted that film professionals must reciprocate the admiration and love they receive from the public. Women should be able to showcase their talents in the film industry without fear. He stressed that no conditions or non-artistic regulations should be imposed on artists. The government is committed to ensuring this.

This is why the government appointed a committee in response to the complaints received, an action that is unique to Kerala. The government maintains a firm stance on protecting women’s employment rights and dignity. Women should be able to work in the film industry without fear, the Chief Minister said.

The Chief Minister also remarked that Mohanlal is a familiar face in the hearts of Malayalis without the need for any embellishment. He described Mohanlal as an artist who has elevated the glory of Malayalam cinema and acknowledged that Kerala owes much to him. Mohanlal, he said, has held Kerala close to his heart through his work.
