Malappuram: P.V. Anwar MLA stated that the Chief Minister’s response was inappropriate, accusing him of portraying himself as an associate of smugglers and casting doubt on his integrity during a press conference. Anwar claimed he responded despite the party’s directive against making public statements. He alleged that the investigation into the tree-cutting case was unsatisfactory and that investigations into gold smuggling and the murder of Rida were also not being conducted effectively. “The assurances given by the party were not upheld. The Chief Minister’s response to the gold smuggling allegations was a huge joke. He placed me in doubt before the public alleging connection to smugglers,” Anwar said.
Anwar also noted that the Chief Minister claimed he was trying to glorify smugglers, which was an unnecessary statement. He criticized the Chief Minister’s response to questions from journalists as being inappropriate. “The party did not correct the Chief Minister. He conducted the press conference in the manner described by DGP Ajith Kumar. The Chief Minister knows nothing,” Anwar stated.
He added, “I never thought I would be able to hold a press conference with the police following me around. I haven’t slept until 2 AM today. The police visited my house last night. Now, hope rests with the court. I will approach the High Court for a thorough investigation into the matters I raised,” P.V. Anwar said.
Anwar claimed that the ‘sun’ Pinarayi has set and that the party’s graph is at a standstill. He mentioned that the Chief Minister is referred to as “Uncle” by DGP Ajith Kumar. “The higher-ups can engage in any corruption. The most alarming thing is that all the party leaders are united,” Anwar added.
At the same time, Anwar released additional evidence regarding the allegation of gold being swapped by the police. He shared a video of a family speaking from abroad in 2023, stating that half of the seized gold was taken by the police.
