Police Refuse to Release Pooram Investigation Report

Date:

Kochi: The police have stated that they cannot release the investigation report related to the Thrissur Pooram disruption incident. This response came in reply to an application filed under the Right to Information Act by CPI leader and leftist candidate for the Thrissur Lok Sabha elections, VS Sunil Kumar. The police cited the report as a confidential document and rejected the information request. They also clarified that further investigations are ongoing.

The report in question was submitted by the ADGP regarding the Thrissur Pooram fireworks incident. The Public Information Officer of the Home Department explained that the report is classified as a confidential document and cannot be released.

VS Sunil Kumar expressed the need to address public concerns regarding the Pooram celebrations. “There are matters in the investigation report that the public needs to know. The public needs to be informed. They mentioned that an appeal could be filed. Whether to appeal will be decided after discussions with the party,” Sunil Kumar told the media.

The report submitted by ADGP M R Ajith Kumar stated that there was no conspiracy or malpractice involved in the Pooram celebrations. It noted that there was no external interference in the incidents related to the festival. The report indicated that the City Police Commissioner made an error in coordination, and the inability to complete the Pooram celebrations was primarily due to the stance taken by the Devaswoms.
