New Delhi: A new initiative to include all individuals over the age of 70 in the Ayushman Bharat health insurance coverage, irrespective of their family’s annual income, came into effect on Tuesday. Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the scheme. This initiative falls under the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (ABPM-JAY).
Registration can be done through the Prime Minister’s Jan Arogya Yojana portal or the Ayushman app. Those with an existing Ayushman card will need to apply for a new card and complete the e-KYC process. Facilities for this are available at Akshaya centers in the state. Alternatively, registration can also be done at https://beneficiary.nha.gov.in or by downloading the Ayushman app.
Approximately six crore senior citizens from 4.5 crore families will receive health coverage of up to five lakh rupees. If there are multiple elderly individuals in a family, the coverage will be shared. Additionally, senior citizens from families that already have insurance will receive an extra five lakh rupees in coverage.
On the occasion of Dhanvantari Jayanti and 9th Ayurveda Day, the Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi today launched, inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for multiple projects related to the health sector worth around Rs 12,850 crore at All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) in New Delhi.
Addressing the gathering, the Prime Minister noted the occasion of Dhanvantari Jayanti and Dhanteras and conveyed his best wishes on the occasion. He conveyed his wishes to all business owners of the country as most people tend to buy something new for their homes, and also extended advanced greetings for Diwali.
