Seven feared dead as landslide hit N.H 66 near Ankola

Ankola (Uthara Kannada) Around seven people are feared dead after a massive landslide on National Highway 66 in Uttara Kannada in Karnataka on Tuesday.

Personnel from the fire department and the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) are present at the spot and rescue operations are underway. Uttara Kannada Collector is also reviewing situations on the ground.

Karnataka Revenue Minister Krishna Byre Gowda said that the landslide took place on the highway due to heavy rains and seven people from Shiruru village in Uttara Kannada are feared dead.

The landslide, which was triggered by incessant rains, also swept away tankers into the Gangavali river flowing on the other side of the road.
