Ashokan Charuvil Bags Vayalar Award for ‘Kattur Kadavu’

Thiruvananthapuram: Writer Asokan Charuvil bags this year’s prestigious Vayalar Award for his novel ‘Kattur Kadavu’. The award includes a cash prize of one lakh rupees, a citation, and a sculpture. This marks the 48th announcement of the Vayalar Award, which has been given since 1977 for the best work in the literary field. The award is constituted by the Vayalar Ramavarma Memorial Trust. Last year, the award was given to poet, lyricist, and director Sreekumaran Thampi for his autobiography “Jeevitham Oru Pendulum.”

The award ceremony will take place on October 27, the death anniversary of Vayalar Ramavarma at a special function at Nishagandhi Auditorium in Thiruvananthapuram.
