New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced on Sunday that the Khadi Gramodyog’s business has surpassed Rs 1.5 lakh crore for the first time, marking a significant milestone. In his Mann Ki Baat radio broadcast, Modi emphasized that the rise in Khadi and handloom sales is generating numerous new job opportunities, particularly benefiting women involved in the industry.

Khadi Industry Milestone

Prime Minister Modi announced a historic achievement for the Khadi Gramodyog sector, stating that its business has for the first time surpassed Rs 1.5 lakh crore. He attributed this success to a dramatic 400 percent increase in Khadi sales, reflecting a growing national pride in traditional Indian textiles. Modi emphasized that the rising popularity of Khadi and handloom products is creating substantial employment opportunities, particularly benefiting women who are predominantly involved in this industry. He encouraged citizens to embrace Khadi by purchasing these products, underscoring their cultural and economic importance.

Support for Indian Athletes

With the Paris Olympics underway, Modi took the opportunity to rally national support for Indian athletes. He urged the public to “Cheer for Bharat,” recognizing the Olympics as a platform for Indian athletes to showcase their talent on an international stage. This call for encouragement reflects Modi’s broader vision of fostering national pride and unity through sports.

Indian Students Shine in Mathematics Olympiad

The Prime Minister also celebrated the impressive performance of Indian students in the International Mathematics Olympiad, where they secured four gold medals and one silver. UNESCO Recognition for Assam’s Moidams

Lachit Borphukan Statue Unveiling

In his address, Modi also recalled the recent unveiling of the tallest statue of Lachit Borphukan, a revered Ahom warrior known for his bravery and leadership. The statue symbolizes the valor and indomitable spirit of Borphukan, serving as a testament to India’s rich historical legacy.
