New Delhi: Tragedy struck a coaching institute in Old Rajendra Nagar, New Delhi, when its lower ground floor flooded following heavy rainfall, resulting in the deaths of three students, according to the fire department.
The body of a female student was recovered during a rescue operation led by the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), local police, and the fire department. Two other students remain missing, with efforts ongoing to locate them.
The Delhi Fire Department received an emergency call about the waterlogging at the Rao IAS Study Centre around 7 pm. Delhi Minister Atishi confirmed that both the fire department and NDRF teams are on-site. She also announced that a magistrate has been assigned to investigate the incident and assured that those responsible will be held accountable.
Old Rajendra Nagar is known for its numerous coaching centers that prepare students for the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) civil services examinations.
