Nation Mourns Sitaram Yechury: Leaders and Public Pay Final Respects at AKG Bhavan

New Delhi: The country has paid its final respects to CPI(M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury in New Delhi. National leaders offered their tributes at the CPI(M) central committee office, AKG Bhavan. Among those who came to pay their respects were Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, former Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar, veteran journalist and Editor-in-Chief of NewsClick Prabir Purkayastha, Kapil Sibal, Manish Sisodia, and many others. Sharad Pawar described Yechury’s passing as an irreplaceable loss. Kapil Sibal and Kani Mozhi both noted that Yechury was a leader who had a profound impact on Parliament and served as a political lesson for future generations. Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, M. V. Govindan, Brinda Karat, Prakash Karat, M. A. Baby, Viju Krishnan, D. Raja, P. K. Sreemathi, K. K. Shailaja, P. Rajeev, E. P. Jayarajan, V. N. Vasavan, C. S. Sujatha, Thomas Isaac, V. Shivadasan, P. Sathidevi, and P. Kunhalikutty also offered their final tributes.

Yechury’s body was kept at AKG Bhavan for public viewing until 3 PM. A mourning procession began at 5 PM and proceeded to 14 Ashoka Road. The body was handed over to the AIMS authorities for the study of medical students.
