NEET-PG 2024 Postponed Amid Allegations of Paper Leaks

Date:

New Delhi: Amid allegations of irregularities in the NEET-UG exams, which are crucial for MBBS admissions, the Union health ministry made a late-night announcement on Saturday postponing the NEET-PG tests scheduled for Sunday. Nearly 2 lakh MBBS graduates annually sit for this exam to compete for approximately 52,000 post-graduation seats nationwide.

In a statement, the ministry emphasized that the decision was made to safeguard the students’ interests and uphold the integrity of the examination process. It further assured that new dates for the NEET-PG exams would be announced promptly.

Importantly, the NEET-PG test, unlike the NEET-UG exam currently embroiled in controversy, is not conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA). The NTA, which oversees the NEET-UG, has faced scrutiny due to allegations surrounding its administration. Additionally, the NTA was also responsible for the UGC-NET test, which had to be canceled a day later due to a reported paper leak. These incidents have raised significant concerns about the security and reliability of national-level exams conducted by the NTA.
