Parliament’s Winter Session to Begin

New Delhi: The winter session of Parliament will begin on Monday. The session will continue until December 20. The government plans to introduce bills related to the Waqf Act amendment and “One Nation, One Election” during this session. The joint parliamentary committee has already prepared the report on the Waqf Act amendment. Ahead of the session, an all-party meeting will be held today. The oath-taking ceremony of Priyanka Gandhi, the newly elected MP from Wayanad, will take place tomorrow. Priyanka Gandhi secured a record majority of 410,931 votes in the Wayanad Lok Sabha constituency, ensuring her victory by surpassing the majority Rahul Gandhi received in 2024.

In the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Rahul Gandhi won with 647,445 votes and a majority of 364,422 votes. Priyanka Gandhi’s victory in the by-election surpassed this record majority. Priyanka secured a total of 622,338 votes, while Satyen Mokery of the LDF, who came second, received 211,407 votes. BJP’s Navya Haridas got 109,939 votes.
