Srinagar: In Jammu and Kashmir, a soldier has died in a clash with militants. Captain Deepak Singh of the 48th Rashtriya Rifles was killed in the encounter, which occurred in the Assar area of Doda district on Wednesday morning. A resident was also injured in the attack. The clash happened during a search operation to locate hiding militants in the Shivgarh-Assar area. Four militants fired at the soldiers. The army had launched the search operation late Tuesday afternoon after receiving information about the presence of militants in the area. It is reported that the army has eliminated the militants.

In a separate incident, a gunfight occurred between security forces and militants in a forest near Patnitop in Udhampur district. Following this, the militants are said to have moved to Doda.
