New Delhi: The Supreme Court has ruled that interim bail cannot be granted to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal in the liquor policy corruption case. A bench comprising Justice Surya Kant and Justice Ujjal Bhuyan rejected the plea for Kejriwal’s bail. Senior advocate Manu Abhishek Singhvi appeared on behalf of Kejriwal. The Supreme Court will consider the liquor policy corruption case on August 26.
Kejriwal had filed a petition in the Supreme Court challenging the Delhi High Court’s order that upheld his arrest by the CBI. He approached the Supreme Court after the High Court dismissed his plea.
Earlier, Kejriwal was granted bail in the case registered by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). However, he remained in jail due to the ongoing CBI case. Kejriwal was arrested by the CBI on June 26 while he was in ED custody.
