Thiruvananthapuram : The election verdict will be examined and required corrections will be made in the functioning of the Left government, said Pinarayi Vijayan, Kerala C.M regarding the election result
The CPI(M)-led Left Democratic Front won only one of the 20 seats in Kerala and could not improve its 2019 tally. During campaigning, the CPI(M) had refrained from considering the elections as a referendum on the eight-year-old Vijayan regime despite a strong anti-incumbency factor behind the Kerala outcome.
In an official communication, Vijayan said the LDF did not get the expected victory: “Drawbacks will be rectified. Efforts to counter the wicked campaign against the government and to clear people’s misconceptions will be strengthened.”
Vijayan said the victory of the BJP in Thrissur is being seen seriously. “That BJP has won in a land of democracy and secularism (and it) has to be examined critically. All people believing in secularism and democracy should be ready for such a review. The government would take comprehensive and micro-level steps to keep people close to it,” he said.
Referring to the overall Lok Sabha elections results, Vijayan said it is a blow to BJP’s efforts to subvert democracy and constitutional values.
