Child Rights Commission Takes Action Against YouTube Channel for Insensitive Reporting

Date:

Thiruvananthapuram: The Child Rights Commission has intervened following a complaint against the YouTube channel Mazhavil Keralam. The complaint, lodged by P D Sinildas from Alanallur, Palakkad, alleges that the channel acted insensitively by questioning and filming the 2-year-old son of Arjun, a man missing since a landslide in Karnataka’s Ankola.

Arjun, aged 30, went missing on July 16 due to a landslide. Despite ongoing search efforts for the past 13 days, adverse weather conditions have hindered progress. The YouTube channel’s decision to feature the young child and question him about his missing father sparked considerable criticism on social media for its lack of sensitivity.
