New Delhi: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan met with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at his official residence in New Delhi on Tuesday. During the visit, Vijayan presented a detailed memorandum outlining the rehabilitation plans for Wayanad, which Modi has pledged to support.

Vijayan requested that the Prime Minister announce central assistance for the survivors of the devastating landslides that struck Wayanad on July 30, resulting in over 200 deaths and hundreds missing. The Chief Minister sought immediate financial aid of Rs 2,000 crore from the Centre. The meeting came after 15 days with no further announcements from the Centre following Modi’s visit to Wayanad on August 10, during which he had assured support for the rehabilitation and reconstruction efforts.

The Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) shared on X, “CM of Kerala, Shri @pinarayivijayan, met PM @narendramodi.” A photo released by the Chief Minister’s Office showed Vijayan presenting an idol of Lord Padmanabha to the Prime Minister.
