Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has assured that strict action will be taken against former Kannur District Panchayat President PP Divya in connection with the death of ADM Naveen Babu. The police investigation will be completed as soon as possible, and the government will not interfere in the probe, he said. The Chief Minister also confirmed that PP Divya had been removed from her position as District Panchayat President. He added that LDF leaders should refrain from making any inappropriate statements regarding the case and that the focus should be on standing with Naveen Babu’s family.
This is the first public statement the Chief Minister has made on the matter following the death of Naveen Babu.
Meanwhile, in relation to the case, the anticipatory bail plea filed by PP Divya has been postponed by the Thalassery Principal Sessions Court to October 24. Despite several days having passed since the charges were filed, the police have yet to question Divya.
Left-wing ministers have also taken a strong stance against PP Divya. Health Minister Veena George announced that Prashant, who had raised corruption allegations against Naveen Babu, would be removed from his position. The Minister also expressed confidence that Naveen Babu, whom she had known since student days, would not commit any wrongdoing and vowed to stand by his family and ensure justice.
After visiting Naveen Babu’s family on Sunday, CPM State Secretary M.V. Govindan expressed the party’s full support for the family, stating that they would stand with them during this difficult time.
