Kochi: The delay in rescuing Arjun Mooladikuzhiyil, missing since the Uttara Kannada landslide on July 16, has sparked outrage among Keralites, flooding social media platforms with criticism aimed at Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah for alleged inefficiency and negligence in search operations.
“Save Arjun” and “Shame Karnataka Government” are among the comments prominently featured on Siddaramaiah’s Facebook posts, where he documented his visit to the disaster site.
Responding to criticisms, Siddaramaiah assured action after the rescue operation concluded, promising to investigate any lapses and seek improvements in road infrastructure. He defended the Karnataka government’s efforts, stating, “Everything is proceeding swiftly. We are actively engaged in search operations without delay.”
Meanwhile, Arjun’s relatives and friends expressed frustration over what they perceive as delayed decisions, particularly in seeking military assistance. Arjun’s sister, Anju, lamented, “They blame the weather and debris, but the army can’t intervene without an invitation. Why delay calling them?”
Amidst the anguish, Arjun’s wife, Krishna Priya, remains hopeful yet distraught, yearning for his safe return. “We wait, hoping for a miracle,” she shared tearfully.
The emotional turmoil extends beyond immediate family, with friends and neighbors offering support and prayers during this agonizing wait. Despite the uncertainties, there’s a resilient hope among loved ones that Arjun will be found, whether alive or as closure in his return.
As the search continues, the community remains united in their plea for swift action and solidarity in the face of tragedy.
