Kochi: The Kerala High Court will consider the petition filed by the family of Kannur ADM Naveen Babu, seeking a CBI investigation into his death, on December 6 for detailed arguments. The petition seeks the High Court’s stance on the matter, requesting the government’s and CBI’s position. The court has instructed that a response be provided within ten days. The High Court has also asked the investigating officer to submit an affidavit. The court inquired whether the case was related to suicide or if it was being treated as a murder, and asked for the basis of this assumption.

The lawyer of Naveen Babu’s family stated that they suspect it was a murder and not suicide. The petitioners also informed the court that the Special Investigation Team (SIT) was merely a nominal title in the case. They further mentioned that the accused is an active CPI(M) worker with political influence. However, the court questioned how the accused influenced the investigation, leading to the directive to submit the case diary.

The petitioner has demanded either a CBI or a Crime Branch investigation. The High Court has only heard the preliminary arguments today. In the petition filed by Naveen Babu’s wife, she pointed out that she suspects his death was a murder, not suicide.
