Thiruvananthapuram: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has announced that the families of those who died in the Wayanad landslide will receive ₹6 lakh each. He also reported that 231 bodies and 206 body parts have been recovered so far.
Of these, 151 bodies were found in Meppadi and 80 in Nilambur. Additionally, 39 body parts were recovered in Meppadi and 172 in Nilambur. Post-mortem examinations have been completed on all recovered bodies and body parts. So far, 178 identified bodies and 2 body parts have been handed over to the relatives.
Instructions have been issued for the retrieval of certificates. It has been directed that no fees should be charged for issuing new documents or duplicates from various institutions.
An amount of ₹75,000 will be given to those with more than 60% disability, in addition to the usual assistance. This amount is being provided from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund. For disabilities between 40-60%, ₹50,000 will be given, and an additional ₹50,000 will be provided for severe injuries, as stated by the minister.
