Thiruvananthapuram: In Kerala, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has stated that the RSS (Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh) is associated with the Congress party, not the CPI(M) (Communist Party of India (Marxist)). He asserted that the CPI(M) has never had a phase where it had to appease the RSS.
The Chief Minister sharply criticized the media, particularly in the context of a controversy involving discussions between the ADGP (Additional Director General of Police) and RSS leaders. He accused the media of being biased in their reporting on the matter.
He reminded the public of past events such as the Babri Masjid demolition, and the Thalassery riots, and claimed that the KPCC (Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee) President had protected RSS branches. He made these remarks while inaugurating the CPI(M) Kovalam area committee office.
The Chief Minister emphasized that the CPI(M) does not have a hidden history and has not made any concessions to the RSS. He made it clear that the party will not compromise its stance on the RSS.
He accused the media of presenting negative news about the government since the second Pinarayi government came into power. The Chief Minister claimed that there is currently a large propaganda campaign alleging a CPI(M)-RSS connection, which he views as an attempt to create a fabricated controversy.
According to him, the CPI(M) has never had a phase where it needed to appease the RSS and has been a party that has opposed the RSS directly. He questioned why the RSS connection allegations are being directed towards the CPI(M) and pointed out that the RSS has historically been hostile towards the CPI(M).
He recalled that during the Thalassery riots, it was the CPI(M) that protected the mosque. He questioned who was protecting the RSS branches when Congress members publicly stated that the Congress was safeguarding them.
The Chief Minister also mentioned that it was Congress members who were seen standing in front of the Golwalkar’s photo, and questioned who was in power during the Babri Masjid incident. He pointed out that Rajiv Gandhi was referred to as a “second karsevakak” (volunteer) by an RSS leader and questioned who was in power during the Babri Masjid controversy.
