LDF and UDF Strike Begins in Wayanad

Date:

Wayanad: The strike called by the LDF and UDF in Wayanad has commenced. The strike is in protest against the delayed central assistance following the landslides in Wayanad and the failure to declare the Mundakkai and Chooralmala landslides as national disasters. The strike is scheduled to run from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. today. Both alliances have urged the public to cooperate with the strike.

Only KSRTC buses are operating in the district. KSRTC has announced that long-distance bus services will be conducted from three depots in the district under police protection. The Traders’ Coordination Committee has declared solidarity with the strike, so no shops are open. Various organizations have also expressed support for the strike.

UDF marches will be held today towards Kalpetta, Mananthavady, and Sultan Bathery post offices. Additionally, LDF will hold a protest march in Kalpetta town.
