Kochi: Liquor sales in the state have decreased during the Onam season. Sales have dropped by ₹14 crore compared to last year. During the nine days leading up to Uthradom, transactions amounted to ₹701 crore. In the same period last year, liquor sales were ₹715 crore. However, there was an increase in liquor sales on Uthradom day, with a rise of ₹4 crore. On Uthradom day, liquor sales reached ₹124 crore in the state. Today is a dry day for Bevco, and the final sales figures will be calculated after reviewing the numbers for tomorrow and the day after.
The number of bars has increased this time, with over 850 bars operating in the state. Bevco has begun an inspection in response to the decline in liquor sales. Despite the overall drop, there was an increase in sales on Uthradom day, with a ₹4 crore rise, totaling ₹124 crore for that day.
