Massive Landslides Hit Wayanad: Four Dead, Foreign National Among Victims, Several Stranded

Kalpetta: Major landslides struck Meppadi, Mundakkai Town, and Chooral Mala here in the early hours of Tuesday at least 12 people. The district administration confirmed the death of four persons including a child.

The first landslide happened around 2 AM, and another occurred around 4:10 AM. Four bodies have been recovered from the area, with reports indicating that one of the deceased is a foreigner. Numerous people are stranded in the area due to the landslides, and heavy rain continues. Access to the incident site is challenging as the bridge from Chooralmala to Mundakkai has been washed away. The landslides took place in the Vythiri Taluk, Vellaramala village, and Meppadi Panchayat regions.
